67 SWB C10 "Nothing Special"

Well I have been wanting this truck for a while and when I couldn't buy it (due to the seller) I bought a 72 SWB but couldn't get motivated becasue I still wanted this one. Then one friday night I recieved a call from the owner saying they were ready to sell. After some thought I put my 72 on craigslist at 11am on sunday morning and by 9pm that night all I could see were the taillights of the trailor it was on. Monday after work I went and picked it up.

And I've also pulled the interior out of it and checked it out for cancer. The only real area was the passenger side. It has a hole about the size of a dime.

Re: 67 SWB C10 "Nothing Special"

I've already got an engine to drop in. Just need to get the performance parts ordered and bolted in.

STOP THEIF !!!! That crate in the garage with the complete 5.7 in it is taking up a lot of space. I have room under the hood of my 72 to store it for you. Welcome to the board

Yes sir! I don't know what is about the body but I like it like it sits. I do however want to restore the interior that way it looks like an original in the inside but looks ratty (I hate to use that word because I don't see it as a rat rod) on the outside. I'm hoping that engine will perform fairly well. I have a 4L60 that I'm going to buy a controller for so I can make it work. The 4L60s are more plentiful if anything goes wrong with it.

Re: 67 SWB C10 "Nothing Special"

I didn't really have any intentions on buying engine parts right now but......... I was playing around on craigslist and found a new in the box Weiand stealth intake for vortec heads. After some research I really didn't find that much difference between it and the Performer RPM and this was $100 and a 20 minute drive from the house. So now its sitting in the garage waiting to be bolted on .

Here you go!!

It came with pretty much every hard part including the distributor but we robbed it the other day to put on a customer's vehicle because I wouldn't be able to use it anyway. Also I'm going to have the vortec EFI aluminum intake and original exhaust manifolds so get rid of.

Re: 67 SWB C10 "Nothing Special"

The Stealth is a really good street performance intake. Match it with a vacuum secondary carburetor and it will work great.

Re: 67 SWB C10 "Nothing Special"

I haven't been working much on the 67 this last week because the 71 that I figured out that runs has sort of got all my attention. I pulled the HEI out of the 327 that was in my 67 and installed it and it fired right up with a little carb cleaner. So I pulled the tank and cleaned it out (failed miserably) and installed a new fuel pump. Will be ordering a new tank either tonight or in the morning sometime. Sort of torn between an in frame or in cab any suggestions??

Re: 67 SWB C10 "Nothing Special"

looks nice. i got a boyd welding alum gas tank for under the bed. he runs a half off sale every spring, if you go that route, you might want to keep an eye out for it next year. their 19 gal, and awesome quality.

i mainly went with the under bed tank because i want to put a jack, a small toolbox, and 10" speaker behind the seat. but if it wasn't for that stuff, i would've kept the tank in the cab just for the looks of the gas cap. i always liked the gas cap by the door, just another thing that makes these trucks unique. i even considered just leaving the cap there for looks even without a tank, but not sure yet. it might look odd because you will see my tank from behind under the bumper.

Re: 67 SWB C10 "Nothing Special"

So I was looking online last night at my local pull a part and seen that they had a 68. Ran over there this morning and got the headlight trim, stearing wheel for my 71, and as I was pulling the B&M shifter when I noticed it was attached to a TH400 tranny so I went ahead and grabbed that too. I was wanting to go 4L60 but by the time I but a controller and everything it's prolly gonna cost more than its worth. The 400 was held in by tie wire so I'm thinking/hoping that the PO had intentions of puting an engine back in and the tranny was good.

Re: 67 SWB C10 "Nothing Special"

Found a set of seats out of a 99-06 Silverado. I think the brown will look good with the factory aqua might should have went with black but I wanted it to look different. I just sit them in there to see how it looks so if they look like they are not positioned right they are not bolted or anything.

Re: 67 SWB C10 "Nothing Special"

Played with the 71 a little today got my new tank in from Brothers so I went ahead and pulled everything out of the inside and installed it. I'm ready to get it on the road so I'm going to focus on getting it running and start working on it a little at a time.

I also included a picture of the floor it is in prety good shape, not perfect by ne means but is probably within my reach of repairing it myself.

Re: 67 SWB C10 "Nothing Special"

So with my work schedule and having a kid and one on the way I have decided that I won't have the time or money to work on the 67 like I want. So i have decided to try and sell it. What do you guys think is a good asking price with it having the panoramic back glass. I will be selling it with the engine that came in it and the powerglide. The engine is bad.

Thanks or your input.
