ID Help

Hello everyone, i am new to the forum and new to advance designs.
I've been fairly exlusive to Jeeps but have always wanted and old truck and I love the body lines of the advance design trucks.

I recently pick up a 1950 Chevy 3600 and need help deciphering everything.
Here are my numbers so far and what I believe is to be correct info.

Truck serial number
5HRF7963
5- Kansas city
H-1950
R-3600
F-June
7963-Production sequence

Engine Numbers
Casting: 3837004
1955-1957 235 Chevy

Block Build date: A166
A-January
16-Day
6-1956

Serial Number
0147782f55Z
F-Flint Michigan
55-1955
Z- standard passenger car

Head:
Casting: 3836848
1954-? Head with 8:1 CR (The Good Head)

Head Build date
Con9 K271
K-November
27-day
1-1961?

Intake
375664
?

Any help would be much appreciated. The main thing that is throwing me off is the build date VS the serial number. One is saying January 16,1956 and one is saying 1955.

Thank you in advance

Re: ID Help

Welcome to the forum. My truck is also a 5HPF but was a ways after yours in production number for June.

As for your question. I'd say your block was forged in 1955 and got its serial number. Then in January 1956 is when the block was built, got its pistons, crank, ect.

Re: ID Help

I didn't even think about that. They probably just had the block sitting in a factory waiting.
Now the engine parts are all the same from 55-56 correct? A rebuild kit should cover at least those 2 years and probably more.
