First Vehicle - 76 Stepside
Thought it was time to start a build thread, This truck was my grandpas which he owned since 83'. I always loved the truck and now I finally have it. Im 15 and this will be my first vehicle. My plans for this truck are a 4/6 drop, all moulding and drip rails shaved, and hugger orange for color. This is one of the only stepside in my city that I know of and im super stoked on it. Here are some pics of it and some progress on smoothing out the tailgate area. Im working on a rendering of it right now and I will post that up asap.
Some fab work I did All welded up We will be putting these seats in |

Re: First Vehicle - 76 Stepside
Nope, going to take a lot of work though, the whole floor is going to be the same level as the lowest part as the stock floor

Re: First Vehicle - 76 Stepside
Is that the only way to make them work? would that be easier than modding the mounting brackets of the seat? we haven't taken the seats out of the truck yet so we don't know how they will fit.

Re: First Vehicle - 76 Stepside
Looks like you have a great starting point for your first truck. My first C10 was my grandfather's too. I got it when I turned 16 in '83. I'm now 44 and still have it.
As for the seats, Korbin's driver seat is power. We are trying to keep that feature and his floors need work anyway. If it was. Not a power seat, we would look at modifing the brackets first before doing something to the floor. Are you doing the fab and welding yourself? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: First Vehicle - 76 Stepside
So I took the truck for a drive yesterday and I noticed a few things. The truck is extremely easy to steer, it drives straight and isnt all over the place it is just easy to steer. Is this normal for these trucks? Or is there something I should upgrade? Another thing is the speedometer will stay at 0 until I get to about 50km/h. What could be the problem here?

Re: First Vehicle - 76 Stepside
I pulled of the rear fender today to see what were going to have to replace, the fender for sure will need to be replaced. We are going to try and repair the bedsides as the rust is just on the flat part.

Re: First Vehicle - 76 Stepside
You are very far ahead of me. I'm 17 and had my truck for 2 years. We have a TIG welder but I have no idea how to use it, neither does my step-dad. On the list of things to do. Would have been great to be able to use it instead of figuring out how to do it without a welder. Looks like your truck is going to turn out nice, especially with late model seats. I'm still rockin the mushy bench seat.
My truck is very easy to steer also. I like power steering but I'd like to feel the road though, if that makes sense. Squarebodies seem to steer really good on average.
