72 C10 wheel help

hey guys, new to the site and building a 72 C10 LWB highlander. it has good BFG tires but want to put some American Racing or Cragar 5 spoke wheels on when its done. I got the 15" 5x5 but not sure about the offset and backspace stuff. What offset do you think is best on my rig? Its disc front/drum rear. Also where is best to buy wheels? Thanks

Re: 72 C10 wheel help

I could use some help here as well. Any rim ideas pointers would be awesome. I'm hearing of a few nightmares of getting wheels to fit.

Re: 72 C10 wheel help

With no response I've scoured the web and believe my truck came with 15x8, 5x5 pattern, and 4" backspace. Anybody ?

Re: 72 C10 wheel help

I am not sure what came factory on your truck, but I think it is safe to say it was close to what you mentioned. You can measure the backspace, by measuring from the mounting surface of the wheel, to the very back edge of the wheel. Not the little step, but the very edge of the wheel. In other words, if there was no tire on the rim, you could lay it face up on the ground and measure from the ground to the wheel mounting surface of where it bolts to the truck.

The width of the wheel can sometimes be difficult to measure with a tire on the rim, but you measure from very outside edge, to very outside edge. Then take that measurement and minus 1". That will be the width of the wheel as advertised. Meaning, every wheel approx. measures 1" wider than stated. This is because they call a 8", the width from just inside the bead. With the bead, it actually measure apps. 1" wider.

Hope this was helpful.

Re: 72 C10 wheel help

I just bought these and they are nearly identical to the back spacing of the 15x8 rallys from the 73-up version.
