Challenge...Headlight alignment..whats the right way?

What is the correct way to go about getting your head lights shining where they need to be? I got one in the ditch and one in the trees. I know how to adjust them but I want to know how to get em just right.

I do it at night so you can see the beam. Adjust lights get in truck readjust as needed. I do not know what standard setting is ( distance they shine in front of you ) maybe some one does.

What I have done is at night drive up to a wall on a flat surface and park the vehicle about 25 feet back from the wall. I adjust the beams to right about 36 inches off the floor.

About 4" low at 25' as compared to the height of the headlights on level ground with the beams parallel to each other.

Here is a good link. It looks complicated at first, but it's actually pretty straightforward.
