just passed on this...

what do you guys think, am i stupid or was it a good idea to pass??? i went to see this truck today with the thought of flipping it. i don't need the truck or the parts right now. the guy wanted $2k firm with title.

looks like the body work and paint is a few years old, with some imperfections (couple scratches and dings) but very nice over all. the bed is amazingly straight inside and out. they did nice work on the tailgate and rollpan. hood is excellent, but front fenders and core support have been cut up for some reason. rockers are good but the kick panels need work, so good rockers are pointless... no drive train.

Re: just passed on this...

No way you could flip that for profit. Is that a long bed? You can get a good long bed driver for $2000.

Good to pass on that one, unless it comes with all of missing parts. I got my DD for $1500. solid truck no rust, turn key.

Re: just passed on this...

I would agree. It looks solid but a little high.

Re: just passed on this...

I would say it was worth $2k but only if you had another truck that was a rust bucket but had a good driveline to swap into it. You could then have a driving truck within a couple of weeks.

Even here in Texas, rust free beds are going for $1k. Cabs around $700, but you said it need work.

I dont think you could make any money flipping it.
I would give him a few weeks and go back and see if he still had it.

Was it a CE or CS truck? (6 cyl or v8). That affects retail value as well, to some degree.

not sure of the engine, the spid was painted over. it was easily a $1k bed. the floor, and underneath was dead straight with no sign of rust. i sold a nearly identical cab for 400 this year (without shiny paint).

this response is about where I was at... but when flipping it's not my opinion that matters!
