Question Auto trans linkage with tilt column

I am currently installing my steering column and am wondering if anyone could share either the pictures or a link to their build where I can view how others have used a van or a 67-72 chevy truck tilt as I have one of each!

Re: Auto trans linkage with tilt column

I used an 82 eldorado tilt. Because I kept the stock brake pedal I had to use a cable shift mechanism, the pedal swings thru the same area the mechanical linkage goes thru. I looked at after market stuff but found I got the same results with a B&M racing shifter cable and transmission bracket. I fabbed the firewall bracket. Look here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=134 Later in the thread it was pointed out that I had the tranny lever upside down in that photo.

I like that method. I have also done it by cutting the heads off grade 8 bolts and drilling holes in the tube then plug welding them. gotta use female joints though.

Re: Auto trans linkage with tilt column

there are nice kits out there. only thing is price and all of them i saw were chrome or stainless steel. i wanted something that looked factory and was cheap. i only have $20 invested in my set up + time. i had the heim joints laying around and they are right and left handed threads. i like to fabricate and save money. gmctrucknut!! pm me if you need more info on my steup.
