The Mystery Seat??
Ok so i bought this '63 chevy c10 recently and the guy tells me it has a suburban seat from around the same year, i,m not so sure, what do you guys think
the base is covered in an old curtain, but is just the same as the backrest, but more worn. Last edited by catfish2; 08-13-2012 at 01:22 PM. |

Re: The Mystery Seat??
Your mystery seat is not from a 60-66 Suburban. Sub front seats were split benches consisting of a fixed two person main bench and a single width seat on the passenger side that moved forward to allow access behind.

Re: The Mystery Seat??
^what he said. and the full-width rear seat doesn't tilt forward like that. The ashtray and hinged back make me think it's from a 2dr car.

Re: The Mystery Seat??
I'll make a 3rd, not a Burb seat.

Re: The Mystery Seat??
The seat is a little mind boggling, it would be a four door passenger car seat, except it tilts forward. a two door seat would have a split backrest and the ashtray in the side panels or arm rest. Quite possibly a 67-72 Suburban front seat.

Re: The Mystery Seat??
Show us the end of the seat bottom and hinge on the driver's side. That'll help. Also look for a part number on the ashtray.
Not all 2-doors had split backs. Look how far forward the back goes in the tilted photo. The hinge pivot is way out in front of the seat back. That looks like enough room to crawl into the back seat. Does the 67-72 burb seat have a hinge? Seems like they'd omit that when they added the 3rd door. Or I'm the dummy and they'd just use the pickup seat.. Re: The Mystery Seat??
Ok, heres a few more pics, and no visible # anywhere on the ashtray, the seat,as you can see has been adapted to fit,its very secure but somewhat untidy, and even more odd is the fact the back and forward lever is on the passenger side [the right] which led me to believe it could be from a right hand drive vehicle, however the wear on the seat is mostly on the left as you would expect from a left hand drive, i have looked on the underside of the seat and the lever appears to be fitted correctly, its gonna make it hard to find a cover for it to say the least, i should also mention there are captive nuts mounted in the base of the backrest that align with holes in the base when the seat is in the upright position.

Re: The Mystery Seat??
After seeing the additional photos I can confirm that what you have there is indeed a seat. Beyond that, I haven't the slightest idea what it's from.

Re: The Mystery Seat??
actually, I am very confident to add that both items in the above pictures are for placement of butts. and as OEM said, I am completely clueless beyond that
