Wiring question--Amp meter
I just bought a new wiring harness from american autowire and it doesn't support the amp meter. Is there a volt meter adapter I can use or possible a volt meter gauge I can swap for the cluster?
72 blazer 350 with HEI. Realize I should have put this in electrical...whoops Thanks for any help! Last edited by mtully79; 08-29-2012 at 09:57 PM. |

Re: Wiring question--Amp meter
Just pull one out of a late 70's early 80's pickup. They are close enough that you can't really tell. Only 1 person has noticed mine.

Re: Wiring question--Amp meter
Thanks for the info low n slow, I'll look at them and see if it will work.
Tom, the amp meter is not supported with the updated harness. I'm reading more about it as electric/wiring is not my thing. I am using a new internal regulator alternator and replacing the external one on the truck which I believe is the reason for the need for a volt meter or adapter. Still trying to find more literature on it before I start the wiring project. Thanks |

Re: Wiring question--Amp meter
You might want someone to verify this but a volt meter would be wired from positive of the alternator output/battery to negative, parallel, to get the voltage output. An ammeter would be inline or series of the alternator positive out to get the amp reading for the charging circuit.

Re: Wiring question--Amp meter
The ammeter wiring needs to be heavy gauge since it carries the load of the whole vehicle wiring.
