What rears in a 3/4 ton 4x4.

what diffs would a factory 1964 , 3/4 ton , 4WD, 8 lug truck have in it ? also which transfer case? >>>>>>>>>> I gotta think any 3/4 ton truck from that era would be built pretty hefty. And pretty rare to even find one. thanx , crossy

Re: What rears in a 3/4 ton 4x4.

The rear end could be either an Eaton HO52 or a Dana 60. Does it have a drop out 3rd member and a round cover on the back? If so it is an Eaton HO52. The Dana 60 cover will look just like the cover on the front differential, just slightly bigger. I believe the transfer case should be the NP221.

Should be an HO52/Dana44 Rr/Fr combo. The transfer case/transmission combo will be Rockwell T221/SM420,unless it has the standard 3spd on the column. They are very stout and not so common to find. Where is it so I can buy it?

Re: What rears in a 3/4 ton 4x4.

tim, the truck was flipped and 75% of it is damaged including the cab. he wants too much for it i guess because he bought a crate engine 10K miles ago. I wanted it to put one of my spare cummins into, but the body is toast. i know i can sell off the engine for DECENT money, but once i found that the cab itself was damaged , i kinda wrote it off.
he wants $2500 and it's less than 60 miles from you so if you want the link let me know, thanx, crossy

Re: What rears in a 3/4 ton 4x4.

Hmmm...I'm getting the hots for one,but good body parts are my main concern. I'd like an original, but I do have a newer 4wd frame/axles/drivetrain already. I'd consider it either way in better economic times, just to have the potential of building an original-ish truck.
