Oops... Dana 60 lug studs?
I figured I'd install new lug studs up front just to keep everything "new". Following the LMC catalog, I used 9/16" because I have '72 front 3/4T spindles. Turns out they switched in 71, so my rear only has 1/2" studs.
Looks like that's larger than what I had originally, but its OK because I need them to be able to use the 9/16" dual thread wheels with the H2 wheels I bought. However, now my front lugs are bigger than the rear, so I need to replace the rear. But LMC doesn't list anything for the Dana 60 rear for a 3/4T 2WD. Does anyone know what kind of studs I need to buy in order to get 9/16 at the rear wheels? Also, anyone know of a way to replace the studs without removing the axles? I'd really like to avoid pulling the axles, and there's room to do it, but I'd think hammering on the studs would be a bad idea (they must be up against some kind of bearing surface along the way). Thanks! Dave

Re: Oops... Dana 60 lug studs?
I need to switch them out on my 67 but haven't gotten that far yet.
I think they switched to 9/16" in 73. I would go to a local parts store, have them look up rear studs for a 73 2wd C30, and see if they are 9/16"

Re: Oops... Dana 60 lug studs?
Will you have to remove the hub to bore for the larger studs? I wouldn't worry about knocking the 1/2 studs out with the hub on. Did it for years on big rigs with no probs.

Re: Oops... Dana 60 lug studs?
Got replacement lug nuts from "The Lugnut King" at a local swap meet. 9/16" for the front, and 1/2" for the rear.(inner) Nuts were the same size outer. Had to get them like that to use the 2 piece lug nuts on the newer wheels so I could install the plastic caps. Hope this helps?

Re: Oops... Dana 60 lug studs?
Thanks. So you're running mismatched studs (9/16 on the front and 1/2 on the rear) and compensating by having two different lug nuts so that the caps can still bolt up?
I considered that, but all else being equal I'd like to get the same size studs all the way around. My challenge is going to be uprading the Dana axles to 9/16. Maybe the hole size is the same, or I'm going to wind up drilling out the axles or swapping them out to 71 or later versions. (When I say axles, I might mean hubs, as this is the full floating setup).
