Re: Highlander video
. . . .
That truck is a lot more rare then you think if it really came with "those" wheel covers from the factory . . . check the SPID on the glove compartment door and see if it says: "PA1 Deluxe Wheel Covers" ( pictured below ) The PO1 Full Wheel Covers are what's on the truck in the video. Also, check the SPID to see if it says: "Spec Promotion Pkg-A,B or C" ( the description for the Highlander Package ) . . . . |

Re: Highlander video
Funny thing...
I saw that video a couple months ago and it really was extremely insightful. That truck is amazing. I have a very, very similar truck that I inherited from my great uncle, who purchased it in July 1972. My truck's spid has "1YG820" listed with the "Special Promotional" working, but no A,B or C nomenclature. It also has the more common covers like in the photo above (PA1). I didn't (can't, at work) watch the video again, but doesn't he state it was purchased originally in Fort Worth? My uncle bought his in Sanger, Texas. And interestingly, used his on his ranch in Fort Worth in the 70's. I now live (and the truck as well) in Fort Worth. ![]() Here is my truck. ![]() |

Re: Highlander video
Highlanders were certainly available in SWB. I had a SWB Highlander w/402. That's a nice truck. That guy should come to this sight to get his facts straight, though.

Re: Highlander video
Since I was already updating this for another thread I figured this info. might be helpful here as well.
Also, I can document SWB Highlanders as well. IHeartGroceries, YG8 is a Package C Highlander. Would like to see the SPID to add to my research. Is it green or gray plaid? Highlander Plaid was a trim only option based on Z62 or Z84 (Blazer only) optioned vehicle. In addition promo packages A,B and C were offered that bundled several options in addition to the Plaid trim. Thus a promo package truck was a Highlander but a Highlander was NOT ALWAYS a promo package equipped truck. Highlander trim codes All include black dash pad, steering column (with or without tilt) and carpet. In addition the door panels, visors, console (Blazer only) and seat belts were parchment (white). Seat vinyl was also parchment and the insert color is determined by the specific code. So the only variable color keyed component was the insert color of the seatcovers. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Pickups Custom Deluxe Z62 mandatory option green 613 blue 611 gray 604 orange 618 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Suburbans Custom Deluxe Z62 mandatory option green 647 blue 642 gray 639 orange 651 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. Blazer Cheyenne (CST) Z84 mandatory option green 680 blue 677 gray 671 orange 686 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Promo package codes A= YG6 Plaid Trim, Special wheelcovers/chrome hubcaps, Chrome front bumper, Upper (belt) molding, Door edge guards and Below Eye-Line mirrors. B= YG7 Adds Turbo. automatic trans., Power steering and Tilt. C= YG8 Adds A/C and tint.
