Going to wood floor
I have a 72 SWB w/ metal floor, I was wanting to change over to wood floor. I was wondering what all things I will have to buy? Thanks in advance.

Re: Going to wood floor
A new bed front for beds with a wood floor. You will also need all of the cross sills that support it, including a new rear cross sill. Well and of coarse a bed wood kit. WES

Re: Going to wood floor
Hold on to your wallet ..
Front bed panel, under floor supports, rear bed panel, of course wood, bolts and strips. I have about $750 in my swap and I'm not finished with it yet. I'm doing Northern White Oak with polished, stainless strips. Fastners will be showing. I like to see the bolts. Ride up to Chattanooga and I'll help you get it apart You can see mine and get a better idea of the work involved.

Re: Going to wood floor
I Paid:
$350 - Almost perfect original GM front panel, Cross braces, floor support, and rear panel. $90 - Nice original GM bed fenders $260 - Wood kit, SPAR Varnish, misc to finish it. (I bought it from the local hardwood yard and used the measurements from www.gmcpauls.com ) Came out nice. $300 - Polished stainless strips and bolts So .. I have more like $1,000 in mine. It adds up pretty quickly.

Re: Going to wood floor
I have a decent 67 short box original wood floor for sale. Header panel and rear main cross brace are in solid condition. Driver side bedside and both wheel wells are in great shape. Passenger side bed side needs some work but definitely repairable. All original strips are still in tact but are a little dinged up, I do have original tale gate as well.

Re: Going to wood floor
Did you space that off the old floor any? If not I would get you a air gap under that wood of around a 1/2" or so that way the would can breath and dry out.
