Factory Tach with LS swap?

My 5.3 harness has a wire labeled "tach"- the instructions was to change the tach to '4 cylinder setting.' I am wondering how others have done this with the 5.3 swap. Mine is an 2003. Thanks

Re: Factory Tach with LS swap?

Digital Dakota makes a tach adapter for this when using a factory style tach. I have read that the settings in the ECM can be adjusted so the factory tach will read correct , but the last ls conversion I did, I never could get my programmer to get it done.

You can only change settings on an aftermarket digital style tach has been my experience.

Re: Factory Tach with LS swap?

I had waitformeperformance retune my computer to put out a signal for an 8 cylinder tach. Works perfect.
You may be able to find someone local that can reprogram your computer to do the same.

Re: Factory Tach with LS swap?

Chuck, what did you end up doing with your factory tach to make it work with your 5.3? Doing the same swap right now and that's about the only instrument I'm not certain on yet.

Welcome to the board.
You may want to check out the ls swap subforum in the engine and drivetrain forum.

I don't know the part number but the factory upper hose from a 99+ v8 silverado fits. It looks like hell so a lot of people swap radiators with both inlets on the pass side.
