TF lower door hinge repair
guys i'm getting ready to repair the lower hinge pocket on my 56' door as it has been repaired with brazing over the years and i was wondering if anyone here has ever installed a replacement hinge piece inside the door. do you cut open the inner door skin and replace bracket then weld inner skin back in place? my door is solid and hate to cut it open but lower hinge plate was cracked beyond repair and i have removed most of it. i could cut out portion of repop bracket but that would make door possibly stick out to far acting like it needed shims removed so not the proper way to fix. anyone have some feedback? thanks

Re: TF lower door hinge repair
I drilled out the spot welds and removed the part and welded the new one in, the only issue was holding it in place. I used self taping screws to hold it in location
before welding it back up. Quote:

Sorry to hijack, but your avatar looks close to the '55 TF I owned when I was 16.
That was in 1968 and I paid $175.00 for it. No passenger seat and no heater. |

Re: TF lower door hinge repair
this one has both stock seats in it. I'm in it real right since the guy selling it didn't have any pic's on craigslist and i sent a buddy to look at it and ended up buying it for me since i was out of town. it was full of 30+ years of pay stubs and some great extra parts that made the deal even sweeter.
