Are the deluxe side markers too fancy for my truck?

First some trivia that I learned on here. In 1969, lighted sidemarkers were an option. It was not yet law that they light up, so mine has the standard style reflectors, but there is no wiring at all, and never was with this truck. They are simply reflectors. It appears that in 1969, you could opt to get the deluxe sidemarkers that have a light on top of a reflector. Like this:

Mine came with ones that look like this:

This truck will be slowly restored, but will never be a show queen. It'll be used and enjoyed as a truck.

So, do you think I should get the deluxe markers, and wire them up so they work, or is that too fancy for this truck?

I think it would look good with the deluxe markers personally but thats up to you. I am in the same boat, i was thinking of upgrading to them and also the fancy sportier square mirrors but with my trucks patina im not sure if its right for it. Good for a bump anyway.

I have a '69 C10 stepside and for now I wired up the existing side markers, but I also had a '70 with the deluxe markers and for me it really made a much dressier look to it. I think it would make your truck better with the deluxe markers, especially since you have chrome bumpers. The plain markers appear as though they forgot the bezel when the put them on at the factory.

Adding the Deluxe style markers is a bit much and way overdone as it is. Seems like almost every stripper out there I see for sale has the Deluxe markers on it.
But adding the lamp function to the four corners is a really good idea and they do help at night.
So I would say just add the lamps using the standard style like a '70 up would have or if you must have something a little different use the van markers found on Chevy vans almost forever it seems.

Re: Are the deluxe side markers too fancy for my truck?

I have a set of deluxe ones for my panel. I was going to take them apart and paint the chrome trim and plastic gloss black to match the trucks paint job. If it looks good Ill stay with that, if not Im going to use the smooth van side markers sunk in a little.

Just go with whatever floats your boat. If you like who cares what any one else thinks =)

Re: Are the deluxe side markers too fancy for my truck?

Thanks guys. I was already leaning towards staying with the style I have, but getting new ones so they're fresh. It helped to put it down in words, and hear your opinions. I think I'll go the route that the truck came with.

. . . .

I like the way the clear, deluxe markers blend in with the paint on a white truck, like on my 70 C-10.

They aren't original, but they don't stand out as much as the colored ones.

. . . .
