Is this hole in the firewall stock?

I'm trying to figure out if this hole (the one that looks like it has bubble gum stuffed into it, to the top right of the speedo cable hole) is original. The truck is at the bodyshop and they're ready to start welding up this type of thing, but this is one we can't figure out.

If the hole was there from the factory, I'll just grommet it. But if its something the original owner drilled, I want to weld it up. But its my only truck so I have nothing to compare it to!

Second pic is current state, first pic is how it was when I bought it.

Thanks,
Dave

Re: Is this hole in the firewall stock?

Dave,
From the look of that hole I would say it was added. But the pictures I have seem to indicate it is an enlargement of an existing hole. The source of the pictures is unknown other than the likely came from this board. Also have a '67 cab picture that shows the same small hole about that location. Sorry I cannot be exact but this is as much as I have.

Does this help? I think that is a hole someone drilled asits uneven and factory holes are perfect cut.

Greg,
What is the harness coming through the hole to the right of your speedo cable?
Thanks,
Gary

I don't know, I've never paid attention to it. I guess from your question that it isn't stock. You got me curious now, I'll check into it.

Re: Is this hole in the firewall stock?

Cool, the reason I ask is my truck has a hole in the same place, but there is nothing in it. Always wondered what it would be for.

Don't think so, looks a little ragged compared to the others.

Re: Is this hole in the firewall stock?

Here are a couple of underhood pictures that may help. But I really think that swarf indicates a dealer or post delivery enlargement.
