Tilt column - exposed shaft dimension
I am installing a tilt column in my 70. How much of the column is to stick out past the cluster face. Trying to match factory. Pictures would be great

Re: Tilt column - exposed shaft dimension
Well, one of the great things about this type of column is that you can decide how much you want or need to some extent there. But you need to realilize that when you shorten the column like I did to clear my hugeness it lessens the effective tilt of the column, meaning it seams to tilt less because of having alower lever amount to deal with. Oh, by the way I have mine in my 68 GMCalmost where the collor of the shifter is touching the dash bezel, in my others that I will be changing to tilts I will not go in nearly as far. Jim

Re: Tilt column - exposed shaft dimension
Since you have the added length with an aftermarket steering wheel and mounting kit, I'd say it looks and would function best as shown in your third picture.
