Rearmain seal
Anyone changed rear main seal on 69-72 350 4x4 jimmy and how difficult ?

If alll you want to do is the rear main seal. It's not too bad. You can do it without pulling the motor. Just hang the engine from a cherry picker or block it up front and back. The front cross member comes off in three pieces if I remember right. Then you can pull the pan with nothing in your way.

I unbolted the motor mounts and used a wooden block on my floor jack and placed it under the balancer. I was able to get the pan off and replace the rear main without pulling the motor.
You just want to be careful about how close the distributor gets to your firewall (especially if you've installed HEI). |

Thanks that is what i needed to know how hard to pull pan. Do you use a sneeky pete to pull the seal i used one on a 78 bronco many years ago?
