Bagging 65 c10

New member here. Just got a 65pu back in summer and been doing a few odds and in to it. I have decided that i am going to put air bags on it but dont want the complete frame dragger. I mostly plan on just replacing front springs with bags and rear with bags and bolt in c-notch. Now question is does anyone have a picture of how low this will set me with out altering the front control arms besides bag plates and such. thanks

Bare with me on pictures and such. im still trying to firgure out the web site and im not to computer savy

Here is my 65 stepper. Swapped springs for bags up front, C notch in the rear. nothing touching the ground, but the cross members are real close.

What size rims are you running? Also under that chrome cap is it 5 lug or 6lug.. I ask this because when I buy my disc convert kit it states " will not work with factory wheels"

These were 6 lug 15" wheels, maybe 7" wide.

Re: Bagging 65 c10

something about those pics just look unsafe.... are your bags sitting directly in the spring pockets on the front a arms with no cups?? and the angle of the rear bags just look sketchy too..... i'm not trying to be a butt... but just dont want anyone to get hurt. i hope you can prove me wrong.... and what if you need to access the air lines leaving the bags?? those upper plates look welded in!

Re: Bagging 65 c10

Are you saying my old rat rod is sketchy? Well, it probably was..

The rear was done by a previous owner. Yes the bags are on an angle a bit, but I never had any issues with them over the two plus years I owned the truck.. I installed the front bags directly in the spring pockets. I welded in the upper bag plates too. I was still able to access the top of the front bags and remove them. I had an air leak on one of them, but was able to reach my hand and a wrench in there to take the bolts loose..

Hey no offense taken, and thanks for your opinion. Thats what this place is for.. I have since moved on from that truck and on to something better.

Re: Bagging 65 c10

Thanks for the pictures Apache. That really helped me decide on what route i wanted to take on the front end and make sure that i wouldn't have some weird rake to the truck when i was finished. That stance is exactly what I am looking for.

Re: Bagging 65 c10

Here's a few pics of my frame with bolt in C-Notches and Air Lift D2600 bags. You'll need to use tall bump stops to keep the pumpkin from hitting the bed floor. You'll also need to relocate the shock mounts.

Front bag mounts (the crossmember is upside down).

Question Re: Bagging 65 c10

Hi, not to hijack this thread but, theastronaut, what brand shock-remount are we seeing in these pictures? Look quite adaptable & ready to fit about any application. Always enjoy nice-looking work; keep it up!

Re: Bagging 65 c10

So companies sell bolt in kits without having to weld anything? I had to sell my welder to fund for my 67 c10 project. I just want to airbag the rear only and put 3" drop coils up front.

Re: Bagging 65 c10

Just replacing the springs with bags will give you a low stance, and will want to get drop spindles as well to get the front as low as possible. Usually this is a good time to do a disc brake conversion as well.

We have our Pro1 Air Ride Kit that uses Porterbuilt suspension products, as well as AccuAir valves and VIAIR compressors. It will have a bolt-in c-notch, shock crossmembers, bags, shocks, adjustable (longer) rear trac bar and everything else you need. Just add the drop spindles.

Let us know if we can help you out any.

Re: Bagging 65 c10

That's a cool kit. One question is I have a CPP notch installed already, if I wanted to go with a Porterbuilt notch how far will the holes be off?

Re: Bagging 65 c10

Not exactly sure to be honest, since I don't have one to compare. From the pictures, it looks like 2 might line up, as far as the side bolts are concerned.
