cChevy 250 upper radiator hose too close to p.s. pulley

I was adjusting my p.s. belt on my 68 GMC six and notice that the hose is closer to the pulley than it used to be. A little too close for comfort.

It may be the new pulley I just put on the pump but for the ones that have a 250 with power steering, what year upper radiator hose are you using?
I'd like a little more clearance and the hose is getting somewhat old.

No one?

I guess I'll go to NAPA tomorrow and see what their hose looks like and report back.

Here's how close the hose is now. Almost touching and when I accidentally touched the hose while it was running left a cut on it.

Will a slightly shorter belt help?

It certainly looks like yours is a lot closer than mine is. I replaced my hose a few years ago with one that looks like this:

I actually got it from Autozone or Napa one, but it looks to be the same. It sits above and in front of the pulley with plenty of clearance. I can take a picture of it if it will be helpful.

You can gain so more clearance if you loosen the hose clamp at the radiator and twist the hose. Then tighten the clamp while you are holding the hose in a better position. Just make sure not to kink it.

Sounds like you need a new hose any way but try this with the new one if you need more clearance.

I had a stainless hose, and could bend it however I needed to.
