WTB: Rochester Q-jet (specifics listed)
Looking for a decent shape, rebuildable Q-jet for my 71-C20-350-Calif-auto trans combo (the ideal part # listed below). BUT, not hardover on the "perfect" part number, just want to get close (i.e. find a carb that has a part number that starts with 7041 (ideal), 7040, or 7042) Specific possible combos posted below. If you happen to have one that is the same or close to any below and you're interested in selling, pls post a pic and the part number (if part # is not visible in the pic).
IDEAL would be: 7 0 4 1 5 1 2 runner up: 7 0 4 1 5 2 2 runner up: 7 0 4 1 2 1 2 runner up: 7 0 4 1 2 2 2 runner up: 7 0 4 1 5 1 1 runner up: 7 0 4 1 5 2 1 runner up: 7 0 4 1 2 1 1 runner up: 7 0 4 1 2 2 1 Again, the above numbers are for 71's specifically, but if your Q-jet part #'s 4th digit (year) is a 0 or 2 (instead of a 1), I'm still interested. Thanks guys, appreciate the help, Jocko "X" means I don't care what that digit it... Thanks for looking. Normally not picky, but trying to place a roughly correct carb on my 71 350 C20. |

Re: WTB: Rochester Q-jet (specifics listed)
Mark,
Thx for posting your numbers - any idear what the "0" is for in the 70405"0"2? This is REALLY close to what I'm looking for - but I was under the impression that Qjets on chevs had a 1 or 2 in this digit. Do you happen to know if that particular carb came off a chev (for instance, 4=buick, 5=olds, 6,7= pontiac, etc. Just not familiar with a "0") or what size motor it was on? This is the only Calif + auto trans one you list - I'm very interested. I'm going to wait and see what part #'s Brian1971 and Belairboy post to see how close I can get to my ideal, but I'm very interested. Thanks all, will let you know soon once some of the other posters post their part #'s. Depending on price, I will potentially buy 2 carbs. John, I will probably not grab the 2 part #'s you asked Mark about, so you guys feel free to go ahead and make a deal on those part numbers. After I see the rest of the part #'s, I'll buy 1, maybe 2 of the others. Thanks All - MUCH appreciated. Mark |

Re: WTB: Rochester Q-jet (specifics listed)
Thanks Brian, I'll take it for $80 shipped. Pls pm paypal if that works for you - or name/addr if you prefer money order, etc.
Livrat, I'd also like to purchase your #7040502, pending price and if you know it's from a chev. Just let me know. I seem to have a hard time tracking down these "common" carbs, so plan to get both of these. Thanks guys, really appreciate the help. |

Re: WTB: Rochester Q-jet (specifics listed)
Jocko,
From my research #7040502 was used on 70 Camaro, Chevelle, Impala, Nova, and Corvette with the 350/300HP engine an automatic transmission and California Emissions(EEC). My understanding on Q-jets is: The Quadrajets for the 1970 year started with 7040 and the next number is a 2 or 5. 5 is for california emissions. 2 for all others. The 6th number is 0,1,2 for Chevrolet and the 7th number is even for automatic and odd for manual trans. I would like to get $75.00 shipped for this one.. It was pulled off a non running engine a few years back, About all I did was dump the fuel out and put it on the shelf. it would be a good candidate for restoration. |

Re: WTB: Rochester Q-jet (specifics listed)
Well, dump that fuel out and stick it in a shipping box and send it to me then!!
$75 works, thanks Mark. Pls pm paypal (or MO addr if you prefer) and I'll send payment. Thanks again for taking the time to sort out part #'s, this one is a very close match even if it didn't come off a truck. |
