Hinge Problem
Before I replaced my hood (big dent in the center) the hinges seemed to fit mostly flush. I put the hood from my old 70 on my 72 Blazer, and now one side sits up by almost an inch. I can push it down, but I'm wondering if I missed something when I installed it. I only removed the bolts that hold the hood to the hinge.

Re: Hinge Problem
Try adjusting the hinge down, each hood fits a little different also lube the hinge really good

Re: Hinge Problem
just move it around and up and down, and lots of lube...the hinges could have a little play, most of the time they work after moving them around a little.

Re: Hinge Problem
I made sure it's lubed (I learned that lesson 35 years ago working on a Cutlass) but I'll try adjusting the back of the hinge.
Thanks for all the help. |

Re: Hinge Problem
Loosen the farthest back bolts and raise the hood all the way in the up position. Once there go past it just a touch and that is your adjustment point, you will kinda feel it when you go into the spot and hold it there while a helper tightens the back hinge bolts. Let me say it this way if you were looking at the truck sideways with the hood open say45 degreesand then if you loosen the hinge bolts and lift it to say 47 degrees then tighten, then shut the hood and check the alignment. Try that , hope it helps

Re: Hinge Problem
Lube everything as stated above. If it still sits high, you an lossibly adjust it a little more. This requires a helper: Raise the hood and loosen all of the bolts slightly. Then loosen the back two a little more. Push upon the hood like you are trying to raise it open more and have the helper tightness the bolts.
