50 gmc orginal gauges 12v v-8

I have got almost all my wiring done. I would really like to keep my stock gauges. Out of anything I am always partial to original gauges. I spent a week trying to convince my dad to keep the original gauges in is 55 bel air instead of buying the 700 dollar set ( I thought the cost alone would have convinced him) but he ended up buying the expensive set. Anyways, I have a 1950 gmc with all new 12volt wiring. It has an electrical temp gauge and an amperes gauge. Will I need to run voltage reducers to these. I know I will for the gas gauge but unsure about the others. Does anyone know if 54-55 fit the 47-53 (they seem to have mechanical temp sending units). Any other hints would be great.

Take a look in the Stovebolts.com tech section, I think they have an article on updating to 12v.
