You know that little bolt, that holds the 'keeper' rod in your rearend? It's broke...
So I ordered me some of the fancy disk brake brackets. I took off my diff cover and proceeded to take out that little bolt that holds that 'keeper' rod in the rearend.
Well it came out nice and easy but I noticed it was only about 1/4" long. If this happens to you then you have to be VERY patient! I managed to get that little bolt out. I noticed the rest of the bolt that was broke off had a little barb on it. I got a small allen wrench and put it up against that barb and started bumping that bolt loose a little at a time. You have to be very easy with it. I got my other hand and started wiggling that 'keeper' rod. After a few minutes it backed right out!

you'd think with all of the goop sloshing around back there the bolt would be nice and lubed up already.

You know... That bolt came out with little effort at all. I wonder if a prior owner didn't break that bolt and just leave it in there. That's my best guess,as to why it was broke....

I think it more common for them to be broken than intact lol.
