Oh happy day - I got my engine running finally!
My neighbor finally made it over to help me start up my newly rebuilt 327. Everything went fine except that I timed the distributer off a little. We figured it out and corrected that OK.
I'm so relieved after all the things that went wrong a few weeks ago filling fluids. I've been having nightmares about it. All I have to do is reinstall the heater core, Install the carpet/soundproofing and find insurance and I'll be ready for a drive! One quick question, When we first started the engine up the oil pressure gauge was very high - almost pegging the dash gauge. After the engine ran for a while the gauge would sit at 1/4 at idle going up to half- 3/4 when we revved it. Are these normal readings? I don't really remember how it read before the rebuild or if they should be higher for a newly rebuilt engine. Once we get the ability to post pictures I take some fresh snap shots.

sounds about right to me, my 4x4 stays at 20 when you start it and if you rev it it jumps up to as high as 50

rebuild
Tom-
Did you install a high volume/high pressure oil pump in the rebuild? I know they will peg a guage pretty easy. I have one in my '67 and it is pegged until warm up and then rests about halfway.
