Let's see your 67-72 Rat Rods...

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for ideas for my new (old) truck. It's my "low budget, hide money from my wife" project.

Give me some ideas!!!

Thanks.

My rust bucket.

Its just really mild built motor, stock suspension. Can't keep traction through 2nd. And its a 3 speed... fun truck. Build the motor, put a nice gear in it. And Give it H*ll!

It's his/her truck, they can do as they please. Although its not my style, there is a lot of ingenuity and skill put into that truck.

Re: Let's see your 67-72 Rat Rods...

Yea I am tryin to build mine on a budget but it is hard to when almost everysingle part on this truck needs replaced hahaa. I dont care if my truck is dinged and dented (lies) just as long as the rust is minimum or takin care of. Cheap rattle cann paint job. ALot of people hate this method but who cares as long as your building it safe to drive for you and others around. Everything can be fixed to look nice later if desired.

Rattle cans and dings are what make a rat rod a rat rod .

I love my truck in all its rust and glory

^^ this. Traditionally, a "rat rod" was a ratty looking pre-1949 vehicle. In recent years it has come to encompass anything which looks old, weathered and unfinished. Shiny paint & chrome need not apply.

Think I'll print this out and hang it on the wall next to my flat black '69 GTO.

Re: Let's see your 67-72 Rat Rods...

Love these ideas. I guess when I think of rat rod I think of the black on red idea. Unfortunately my truck has the original white on bottom and top and a rattle can turquoise middle. No showing rust. I think I'll have to paint the turquoise black at least. Haven't thought about what to do with the white.

Welcome!!! I'll just say that most trucks of this era do better as "shop truck" Builds. One other item to comment on.If you paint the turquiose Black the truck will then be black and white but nobody will ever call it anything but "The Skunk Truck".
