installing new shocks
I'm replacing my old, worn shocks with KYB - should be a straight forward swap. However, with the new washers the bottom of the rear shock is too wide for the mount. Obviously I want to use the new washers. It would appear that I need to widen the bottom bracket about 3/8" or so.
Any thoughts on how to do this or am I missing something? Thx

Re: installing new shocks
Assuming you have the correct shocks, If the mount is to narrow only use one washer to take up some slack or none.

Re: installing new shocks
I'm sure the shocks are correct as I did search out the part numbers on the forum. Just wasn't sure what issues I'd cause if I didn't use the washers that came with.
Anyway, thanks for your help.

Re: installing new shocks
I use washers w/lock washer on the upper connection & washers w/lock washer "outside" the ears on the lower connections. The ears on the lower connection bend very easily and the washers help distribute load and stiffen the ear against the shock bushing...

Re: installing new shocks
Got a picture?
I think he might be saying that if the washer are put on the inside of the bracket that he will have to spread the bracket. I personally would not spread the bracket that much, it might make the bolt holes not line up.
