what's it worth?
So my dad came across this truck an old man had. The man said he has had it since 1974 (which is what the title indicates) and he mostly just used it around his property. From what my dad is telling me everything is still origanal and it has the inline 6 cylinder engine. The dash has never been cut out and it even still has the original spare tire carrier which i find to be pretty rare. He says it runs (it needs the points cleaned up before we know for sure) and that the 4wd works good in it. Considering after sanding the points it does in fact run, what do you guys think it's worth? It looks to be in rough shape but the body seems to be pretty straight on it. I haven't seen the truck yet, just some pics that he sent me of it.

Re: what's it worth?
That is where it gets confusing. It is ok to ask a wiw for something you do not own. To get info on something you are looking to buy or such. WIW for items you own tend to turn into for sale threads. Folks have used that in the past as a loophole to subscribing.

Re: what's it worth?
x2
$1k-$2500 There are several factors to consider; 1. Does it have a clear title (starting with KS to designate 4x4 6 cyl)? 2. How bad is the floor rusted? It looks like it might be pretty bad 3. Is the cab salvageable, look for rust at the top of the windshield, cab mount supports and firewall. If rusted here as well as the floor, it may be too far gone. Only one of these and its salvageable, but multiple areas is too much, IMO. |

Re: what's it worth?
Judging from the photos of the door panels, it isn't a 72. Also, by the hood line, it looks like a 69-71. IMO, the 71 is a little more desireable due to having front disc brakes.
I'm digging the gin poles. Does it have some sort of PTO winch. That is what a WORK TRUCK looks like! There is a 68 local that looks a lot like this one, but white. If I didn't already have so many rojects, I would be on it too! |

Re: what's it worth?
It's a '68 and it does have a pto winch but not for the gin poles. It has a hand winch for the gin poles, apparently he didn't need to lift to much with it. I still haven't seen the truck in person so i'm not sure excatly how much rust is on it but my dad did get it. And as far as posting the thread, i was not aware that there were different levels of membership. I'm kind of new on here and when i signed up i don't recall any options to become a supporting member. I thought this sight was just for people who share a common interests and knowledge of a particular subject. I will have to check into maybe becoming a "supporting" member.
