standard to automatic conversion
Hi guys i am wanting to do a swap for a standard transmission to an automatic
transmission on a 1978 gmc 1 ton 4x4 i know i am going to need a automatic steering column and linkage but what other items do i need to do the conversion like crossmembers and about how long would it take to do this conversion any help would be great thank you so much |

about to do this myself. depends on the transmission you get, might need a new and/or relocated crossmember. Driveshaft length may change.

you need the auto crossmember, a trans cooler and lines or new rad with built in cooler. and new drive shafts. i converted my 2wd back in the 90's. it will take the weekend if you have all the parts.
