Pulley Mixup

The power steering pulley I have on my pump is flat and it appears I needed a crank pulley that is cast like the one in this picture:

I have the three groove crank pulley and would like to change my power steering pump pulley to one like the offset one in this photo:

My question is this....Are the ones you can buy in the aftermarket the same as the one in the second pic and do they mount the same, with the keyway and nut on the outside or do they press on?

Re: Pulley Mixup

Scott
I just pulled mine off and blasted and painted them brackets and pulleys. The pump and bracket you have and flat pulley with the key way and nut is what I have. I have a 4 pulley crank pulley and it uses the outer one. .
Outer one for p/s
2nd not used
3rd a/c
4th or closest to the motor. Alternator.
Hope this helps.

Re: Pulley Mixup

Can you get the number from the pulley in that second picture? I bought a reman p/s pump and my old pump used a press-on pulley but this pump has the threaded shaft and my old pulley will not work. I need a pulley that is like the one in that second pic.

Thanks,
Mark

Re: Pulley Mixup

Trying to match these parts is difficult unless you're lucky. There's been many parts swapped and configurations changed in the last 40 plus years. Best thing is to get all the parts from a completely stock engine otherwise you will have to do some tweaking, adding spacers and maybe fabricating brackts.

I always tell anyone that's converting to p.s. to get everything from the water pump and harmonic balancer forward. In other words all the pulleys, belts, alternator, fan pulley and all mounting brackets off the donor engine (if at all possible). Even if the parts are bent, rusted or unusable they can be used to match to newer ones.

Re: Pulley Mixup

I have all the correct brackets and all the other pulleys line up ok. The p/s pump that I had before is basically the same as the one I have now, except the type of pulley it uses.
Now I just need a pulley with the correct offset for a threaded shaft type pump.
