My New Project 86 454 Dually only paid $900

My New Project 86 454 Dually only paid $900

Well like the title says just picked up a new project truck. It runs good, was a daily driver for the guy I bought it from. Its a 1986 GMC 3500 Dually with a 454 T400 trans and I think it has a Dana 60 rear??? Not sure you tell me. Here are some picks. I will start a build thread once we are ready to start working on it.
Let me know what you think about the new project.

You stole it, good deal. Should have a Dana 70 rear end.

Dana 60 and 70 use the same cover. But with a Dana 70 the housing is about a 1/2 bigger on the bottom side of the cover, so basically on a 70 the housing is bigger then the cover on the bottom and on a 60 the cover and housing are matched size.

I agree! My single cab wasn't half that clean at more than double the price.

The plan is to go over the truck wih a fine toothed comb and make it an extremely reliable daily driver / tow rig that we can use to pickup and haul future projects and drag cars to the track with.

We will make a build thread for it once we start rebuilding it and I will post a link to the build thread here in this post as well as our signature.

Thanks for all the comments and replys my son and I are loving this truck more and more everyday, its going to make a beast of a hauler.

Re: My New Project 86 454 Dually only paid $900

that is a dana 70 HD. to identify the chevrolet dana 70 HD in your truck that sets it apart from other 70s, is the 4" tubes. it is a 35 spline 10.5" ring gear axle. enormous brakes. everything about it is massive.
