quick help on a saginaw 4 speed????
how do i get the tailshaft housing off the main part of the tranny? i have the sideplate off and all the bolts off and it comes out 1/4 inch or so but the gears stay with the tailshaft housing. what do i take off? thanks, Ben

there is an external snap ring on the rear bearing, that holds the bearing/shaft /gears to the tailhousing. if you can slide it back far enough, you might get at the snap ring(it been a while). I have always removed the tail housing with the shaft & gears, & separated the housing after. You will have a row of needle bearings on the inside of the input shaft to deal with tho.... good luck,crazyL
