Think I should throw in the towel?

Well after several years of neglect and moving on, I think I am ready to part out my first truck. Started working on this thing when I was 15, now I'm 30. I drove it all through high school, and some college. I've done so much work to it I can't even remember most of it. I think its too far gone for me to bring back with lack of time and interest I have. What should I do? Part it out, sell it as a whole, or try to revive it? It needs a LOT of work. What do you guys think ?

I would think the sentimental value of it would be more than any monetary value you could probably get for it. It sucks that your interest in it has dwindled because that's a very cool looking truck already and has so much potential. I vote for the revival if you have the means and ability, but best of luck in whichever route you go!

if it aint fun and you have moved on as far as interesdts is concerned sell it and dont look back// you should b able to get a good price on it as it sits// i'd sell all the stuff that is not installed sepertly and the rollin truck// to try and plug thru it will just be a terrible experience for you /you'll get to really hatin on it and the little you increase the value will not b worth the effort

I've found that once the love is gone then any work becomes a chore and when it becomes a chore then you get frustrated and that is not what this hobby is about. I moved on from the 2nd gen Camaros and Trans Ams cause it was becoming just that, a chore and the cars just did'nt do it for me anymore.

Very few people still have their first car after 15 years. A lot of people spend time and money trying to recapture it. No more money than you'll get for it, why not keep it?

Send it down the road and move on. I love my cars, but I could easily part ways with them, and go find another ride.
But were all wired a little different. Some of us get bored with stuff quick, some take stuff to the grave.

if you have the room put it away and forget about it for awhile. i only wish i would have kept half the stuff i've sold thinking i was over it in my short time. if it were mine i'd say get it driveable and run the wheels off of it.

I feel your pain. In fact, I just went through this. I almost parted my 68' short box into my 72' blazer. I have owned the 68' since I was 14, I'll be 35 in two months. My wife actually talked me out of it. I chose to just tuck it in the corner until the bug bites me again. After all, it is the first truck I ever owned just my .2cents

Keep it. I think if you sell you will regret it down the road. I sold my first truck to have a friend do some messed up wiring and burned it to the ground. Tuck it away and try another day.

The problem is I went to extreme with it and cant undo some things. The notch is WAY too big, set up to lay on 24"s. Just wish I woulda listened to my dad and just drove it the way I had it. When I took it apart and lowered the body mounts it never went back together...

There ya go... There are a lot of these old trucks still around. Sounds like you won't be happy with it no matter what. Sounds like you got the "rocker draggin" bug back when and did all the work to it. Now wish it was just a slightly lowered truck with cool wheels...

I agree with the others that say sell it and move on. Again, there are a lot of trucks still out there. Who knows... you might get the urge for another cool truck again in a few years and can build one like you should have back then.

Time will tell my friend.

And... don't part it... sell it whole...

My wife is not a fan of the time and money it takes to build and complete these projects; she did talk me out of selling my 67 nova. I lost interest because of the body work cost.I have had that car for about 14 yrs now, building my 69 C10 and seeing the results has put a fire in me again. I am planning on finishing both and selling my Tahoe to help pay for the paint and body on both.You could find a frame pretty cheap,blast it yourself,shoot it yourself and have a fresh start instead of an old headache. Its looks drivable. Throw a few days getting things tucked away and drive it as is. It looks sweet. Old rusty and trusty. Drive it and the drive to fix it up more will come back.
