New 69 Chevy C10 owner
I just purchased a 69 Chevy C10 LWB Fleetside with a 307 engine, and 74,000 miles on it. It sat in a garage for a long time. The first issue I want address with it is that it is hard to start first thing everyday. Once it has been running a while it starts fine (electric choke issue?). The second thing is that when it is running it dies when I press on the gas unless I get into it pretty hard or pump the gas pedal. This happens in park or while in gear. It idles perfectly. Any ideas?

Thanks A.J. That is interesting about the fuel. The previous owner did run Premium. That is what is in it now.

You'll probably want to adjust the idle too, since the weather is starting to change. If you search my oldest posts, you'll see a thread on what octane to use and one on how to adjust the idle, where other guys helped me out Posted via Mobile Device |

First off welcome to the board!
now as for the gas problem I would change out the fuel filter and give it a good tune up, plugs, wires, points if you dont have hei.

Sounds like the accelerator pump is bad in the carb, probably from sitting. Take air cleaner off and with the engine OFF look down carb and move throttle slowly should have smooth steady stream of fuel. If not rebuild carb.

May also be just too much choke. Look at choke position at start up, after you set it with a little throttle.

Re: New 69 Chevy C10 owner
Are you sure you have an electric choke? I had similar issues with mine when I first bought it. I installed a choke thermostat and now it starts with two pumps every time. Even early in the morning when it's cold and has been sitting.
