How do you remove the seatbelt retractor plastic shield, so the unit can be removed?
I need to remove the lap belt retractor end to do some cleaning and painting, but I can't figure out how to slide the plastic sheath up so that I can gain access to the bolt that's holding the belt to the floorboard. Any ideas?

Pull it up, that's all there is to it. Might have to move it back and forth a bit.
Here is how to remove the plastic cover on the buckle: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=465715

It really is just as simple as giving it a good tug. Then underneath there is only one bolt that holds it all down.

If you use a heat gun or hair dryer and warm up the plastic it becomes very easy to remove the sleeves.

Yes, you are lucky you didn't crack them. I always use my heat gun. It doesn't take much heat but it makes a lot of difference in ease of removal... LockDoc
