love it or hate it, i need your imput
well im starting on the fabrication of the front end. I have a billet grill and ss logo to go in it. I want to put two bars in there to separate the grill from the headlight rings. buckets and rings are off a 46 mercury truck and are moved in 3/4 and up 3/4. my only question is should I go for the slanted bars like the top pic or curved bars like bottom pic(rendering). top to me looks more aggressive but also favors a ford mustang, the bottom favors the 69 Camaro more. or do you have another suggestion.

Re: love it or hate it, i need your imput
The renderings kinda look mustangish but I like the headlight position. With the right grille it would look cool.

Re: love it or hate it, i need your imput
the bottom/left does favor a mustang. for that reason I'd say the top lol. i do think the more vertical one looks better for this body style. it has potential to look really good though!

First thing that popped in my mind...
1973 Dodge Challenger grill minus 2 headlights.

Both look like mustangs. What if you were to run the bars so they run parallel with the radius of the headlights.

Re: love it or hate it, i need your imput
Kinda like what was posted above? but take your first pic and flip the curved bars around so they "wrap" around the headlights. I actually like it. As long as you have filler panels for the gaps I think it could look kinda cool. I've always wondered what a roll pan would look like with 69 camaro fogs morphed in.

Re: love it or hate it, i need your imput
I say go for the 71/72 Chevelle grille look. Updated with the hooded headlight look. Maybe you could post in the photoshop section and someone could play with the images.

I like stomper's idea. With your original plan I'd make it look like a Camaro

Re: love it or hate it, i need your imput
I say do the Camaro SS grill look that everyone wants to see so bad, with the Headlight doors. The top pic looks like a later model GMC grill to me, the lower one looks mustang. Just my opinion though.

Re: love it or hate it, i need your imput
I actually wanted the 69 camaro look with doors but my skills arnt good enough for that. So i found these buckets for the camaro look with rings. I think the cobra look is agressive and cool but im a chevy man so i want to keep its dignity. I have a stull billit grill for the 71-72 it fits the profile. I cant get the phone to post a pic so ill have to do it at home i also have a ss logo from a 70 chevelle. I wanted also to trim the fenders out where the oe bezals screwed in and follow the contour of the body line but directly behind that is where the fender bolts to support so im trying to figure out a creative soultion. I have two sets of steel bezals to work with so i can cut and mold into the fenders but im just not sold on that idea yet

I fixed your drawing. I think it might look good. I think the lower one might be better, but it is hard to say until you get you pieces together on the truck.

Re: love it or hate it, i need your imput
here is what I have so far, im not digging the trimed around the head light look, the grill is not long enough to acheieve that well. I think im going to make two small bars to separate the lights from grill. over all im going to go with the shape of the 69 Camaro grill and make some filler plates to go around the headlight bucket area. they will be shaped like the doors on the rs hidaway lights if you can picture that. I also think I may paint the plates silver and then run two horizontal black lines across the grille and into the plates. if you have ever seen a foose Camaro you will get the idea. only my headlights will be showing through. its either that or paint the grill black all but the top and bottom bar caus it looks like to much bling to me. also the ss logo needs repainted it is stripped to chrome now. Ill keep you updated!!

Re: love it or hate it, i need your imput
I really like the way your goin with this. Keep trying and moulding it, I also like the 69 camaro look it has in these last pics and kinda like the trim rings mself. To bad you cant get the outside of the headlights moulded like the 69 has it I think it would look great!

Re: love it or hate it, i need your imput
well here I go again, I put this project on the back burner. then I decided I would give it a go today. and well I think I jacked it up now. I tried to pull off of the new Camaro look and well im just not digging it. this is just another mock up but I don't know if its worth the time to finish. Im starting to think I need to ditch the billet all together and run a black mesh that spans all the way across only exposing the headlight buckets. let me know if you think I should continue this path.

Re: love it or hate it, i need your imput
I don't want to sound negative, or that I dislike your designs, but it feels like you are trying to force a concept, instead of putting pen to paper and really trying to design your concept. If your skills aren't up to par for certain tasks, then that may sorely limit your design. I don't mean that in a negative way either. Ambition is great, and trial and error may work in your favor. You may need to bring the measuring tape out and do a center to fender drawing of what your trying to accomplish. Your sketches are just that, very rough sketches. They portray an idea, but there's no sense of execusion being thought of. The difference between a half inch can be the difference between odd, and dead-on. Remember that the Chevy grills such as the Camaro or Chevelle, were thin plastic, not flat thick bars of billet aluminum. That changes the look. Again, don't mean to criticize at all by any means, just trying to help you understand ALL aspects of the design. You can really have an interesting concept here, but any design really comes down to the overall theme before words like goofy start getting thrown around. Good luck to you!
