AN SS brake lines
Setup is front disc, rear drum.
Went to Summit to get SS brake lines and fittings. Sales person A gets me setup with -4 an line and conversion fittings. Went back a little while later as the fittings I got (suggested by salesman) for the caliper would interfere with the airbag. Salesman B could not find banjo fittings that would work and suggested I go with -3 line as that is more common to use. So which is right? Should I use -3 an or -4 an lines for the front? Since the rear is a larger line what should I use for the rear? Thanks for any insight. |

Re: AN SS brake lines
I would use 3AN to replace 3/16" line and 4AN to replace 1/4" line.
Check Speedway Motors for a good selection of AN fittings.

Re: AN SS brake lines
I have AN-4 hose and fittings front & rear on my 4 wheel disc system with 3/16 lines throughout. That said, had I to do it over ( i acquired the hose and fittings years ago for another truck that was crashed and just reused them) today I would use AN-3 with 3/16 steel line. They both work but the -3 is more compact.
If you are replacing everything I would change the rear hard line to 3/16 also. What the hell, make it all match. Posted via Mobile Device X2 on Speedway Motors. Thats where I get all my hose and fittings. One more bit of advice, stay away from off brand AN fittings. (Summit, Jegs) I have used the Summit hose fittings and they are pure garbage. The few dollars saved aint worth it. You will end up having to replace them. Every Summit hose fitting I have is unusable junk. I keep them to remind myself never again. Aeroquip, Russell, Earls and Goodridge are all good.
