16.5x9.75 wheel question

Am I correct that a 9.5-16.5 will not fit this rim width properly? I want to use a set of slot mags in this size on a 69 C20, but looking like 33x12.50 is the only tire available that will work with rim size.

Re: 16.5x9.75 wheel question

I'd say you are correct. Tire Rack calls for a rim width from 6.75" to 8.25" for a 9.50-16.5 tire. 9.75" is the preferred rim width for a 33/12.50 tire.

Re: 16.5x9.75 wheel question

9.75" is wider than 9.50" so I'd think yes, they are too wide. Guys did/do run 12.50/33s on 9.75s all around on C/20s,though. Just look for some 6.25" wheels for the front. That's how I ran them

Re: 16.5x9.75 wheel question

9.75 x 16.5s all around with 12.50s on a fellow member's truck. The front end needs to come up a bit:

Re: 16.5x9.75 wheel question

Thanks Special-K, yeah I had seen that anniv. truck and a few on here that had 33's all the way around. I just hate to spend that much money on the tires, too many other things to buy for my truck. I guess it'll be the price to pay for the slots, but I think if I can't find anything else I may go with the Summit 50/51 wheel. It's a pretty close match to the style of slots, and tire choice would be so much easier. I do like the bigger AT type tire on the back of these longbeds though, with the street tire in the front - normally like to keep all four the same, but something about these longbeds makes it work in my mind.

Re: 16.5x9.75 wheel question

I have a set of 9.75 - 16.5 American wheels with 35-12.50 BFGs that I used to run on my 77 Chevy. Too bad you are so far away.

Re: 16.5x9.75 wheel question

Back when I had that Ochre & White camper truck you could still get 12.50 all seasons. Those looked great, just like car tires. Great for the hiway, too. If a wheel company had any sense they'd make these in 16s...and 10x15s as well.
