How could i Use s10 spindles/discs?
My dad has a parts 02 s10 and i was curious as to what it would take to use the spindles and discs and convert my truck from drum to 5x4.75 up front. Just thought id ask cuz id hate to scrap usable stuff. Then i could use chevelle bolt pattern wheels. Any input or ideas would be great. Its just an idea to throw out there

Check out gringolocos build thread he is running the Camaro rotors 5x4.75. I haven't read anywhere that s10 calipers and rotors would even be a option, but where there is a will there is a way I'm sure.

Custom fab up a front crossmember. Waaay too much math for me. I'm sure the akerman and steering would be way off.
I'm sure some people would just bolt it up and go. I don't know why anybody would want s10 brakes on anything, they are way too undersized for s10s. I've experienced extreme brake fade in my old s10 many times (empty on a curvy road) Posted via Mobile Device

Re: How could i Use s10 spindles/discs?
i wouldn't use anything smaller than what came on a 71/72 c10 disk setup. And S10 doesn't hack it for strength in my book. Understand the draw since the parts are lying around waiting to be used, but safety first. I'm not saying that the s10 setup is LESS safe - I'm just saying that you probably can't PROVE that it's AS safe. (I'm referring more to spindle heft/size, ball joints, etc (if req) than I am to disk size/thickness, but both would matter to me.

Sell the s10 parts.
Use 73-87 C10 Light Duty Spindles and calipers with '92 Camaro 1LE rotors. That's the best way, I know, to get 5x4.75 bolt patttern with oem parts.

Re: How could i Use s10 spindles/discs?
I tend to agree, S10 brakes are not all that great even on an S10 which weighs at least 1000 lbs less than a C10 and typically has a fraction of the spinning mass of the larger truck. If you are going to go through all the effort in the end I assume you would want something better than what you started with. The S10 brakes are also not a real high life brake, on my S10 I get about 20K miles out of a set of Hawk HPS pads with slotted rotors, stock pads I got 15K out of with smooth rotors and on an a C10 you'd probably get less than 10K. On the hills and canyons in LA I'd be out of brake with the stock setup, I also blew out the lines before I replaced them with SS Braided. Stepping on the pedal and having it just go to the floor is a pretty scary feeling.

He beat me to it. Just sell the parts and get what you really want. Don't waste time trying to cobble together some bastardized front end when they are simpler ways to do it.
