Need Help:1959 GMC 100

I HAVE FINALLY GOT THE MONEY TO GET MY TRUCK
I HAVE $1,000 in my pocket, and wanting to get my Truck
Its not worth much, read below to see

Please pray for me (if you pray

:m etal:

Hard to tell from the photo but you mentioned rust in box, doors fenders and cab roof?

Do you have the signal lights from the front grill?

Yeah he has them, he painted the truck, but didnt go to bare metal the original paints still there

Any options? Factory radio? Tach? Hydromatic? V8?
V8 Engine, Yeah..Not sure what Tach is
Looks like it is a big back window which is a huge plus.

Without any rust free panels or options I would probably value it at $500. And it can only go up from there.

He is taking the Battery out

Putting the rotted tires back on

The wood beds gone
Cab inside rust
Driver side rocker panels is gone..
Headlight bracket is rusted

He bought it from the Junkyard for I think $350

and has only put new Brakes,Tail light, and a crappy paint job..

Please help me

Re: Need Help:1959 GMC 100

The price of the truck only truly matters if you feel its worth what you are giving. I searched for nearly 20 years trying to find a truck that I felt was worth the asking price. Finally I found one which both the owner and I felt was a good deal. After the nearing ending search ! The key point is how long do you want to search while the prices continue to go up .NO MATTER HOW GREAT OF A DEAL YOU GET ,SOMEONE WILL GET BETTER !

Re: Need Help:1959 GMC 100

so hit him with $500 to start. At least it gives you some bargaining room. Always low ball a guy when dealing on a project when it needs this much work. Take into consideration how much work it'll be just to get it home

Re: Need Help:1959 GMC 100

You asked what I thought it was worth......

I still stand by the theory of buying the best truck you can and go from there, rust repair is very costly.

I spent $6000 at a body shop to have my cab for my 59 GMC repaired and into primer, yes $6000 for a primered cab.

From what you are describing it sounds like a parts truck. Big back window section must be worth something.

I guess, what are your goals? If they are to have a real nice painted driver, then I think this truck might be beyond fixing. If you are looking for a rat rod and never plan to repair the rust then I think a running, driving truck is worth $1000.

You mentioned it was your grandfathers truck. There is no price on sentimental value. If I found my dad's 71 Chev I might pay the world to have it back.........

I think Tim's idea of offering $500 and see where that gets you is a great idea.

Re: Need Help:1959 GMC 100

if you look through my build thread, at the stage mine is in right now, it's cost me $7000 in parts alone, that doesn't factor in the hundreds of hours I've spent working on it. So you really need to have a good solid direction on your project before you even turn a single wrench.
