What kind of bolts are these?

Replacing a broken window regulator and came across these bolts.

I have never seen a bit like those before, so I'd thought I'd ask if a slotted screwdriver will work fine. I'v stripped and snapped enough bolts and screws on this truck already and my easy out kit is earning its keep...
If there is a bit for it, does anyone know what they are called so I can order one?

Re: What kind of bolts are these?

They are clutch head screws. I used a flat head screw driver to remove the ones on my project. I would hit them with penetrating oil and try that. If it doesn't work you can always buy some that fit.

Wow that was fast. Thank you so much. The eBay listing you found is actually the cheapest I can find so far too. Amazon wants 6 bucks a piece....

Re: What kind of bolts are these?

When they are really stubborn I have used a small pair of vice grips to help the clutch head driver. I replace the clutch heads with stainless button socket head cap screws.

lol Blue I was in fair Oaks this afternoon.

Re: What kind of bolts are these?

Sometimes you can pick them up at Ace hardware too and they often show up in those XXX screw driver bits in a box collections.

Re: What kind of bolts are these?

So far I have managed to get all the ones I've tried with a screwdriver. I was thinking if I strike a stubborn one, an impact driver might do the trick.

I have to replace just the window winder shaft section, not the whole mechanism.

Is that what you are doing?

Any pics you might be able to post of this task would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Re: What kind of bolts are these?

I have been replacing mine with Button Head socket head cap screws. I did buy the clutch head bolts for my bed fenders.

if you mean the impact driver you hit with a hammer that could bend the door and an air one can strip the head or twist off.

Yes the shaft free spins, which is why I'm doing this. I was just gonna replace everything while I was in there.

Re: What kind of bolts are these?

Those old clutch head bolts can be a real pain in the you know what, especially if they are original and never have been touched. I have had to resort to using a cut off wheel to create a deep slot so I can use a flat screwdriver to remove more than once....

Re: What kind of bolts are these?

The impact driver is just a suggestion in general terms and in relation to those particular bolts which I assume you know appear in more places (some in very solid areas) than just the door panel.

Clearly a suggestion your not keen on mate but one that some may find helpful.

Re: What kind of bolts are these?

I ordered the bits. Won't hurt to have in case there are other screws like those hidden in the truck.
