I think you've somehow managed to attach the center link upside down. All the holes are tapered, so I'm not sure how that happened...

Re: 1971 steering/brakes/etc in a 1966 NEED HELP!!

I don't have anything tightened up yet, just finger tightened; tried racking steering from side to side and noticed I had an issue; 1st was I had the upper A arms in on wrong sides; fixed that and still had issue w/ drivers side tie rod hitting nut on bottom of pitman arm...

think I will trying to flip and see what happens....

thanks for the info.

Will follow up with what I found.

thanks,

WAGZ

Like Reyals said- all the holes are tapered, would be kind hard to install upside down, but that is how it looks.

It's backwards!
The inner tie rods connect on the BACK SIDE of the center link.
(inner tie rod nuts will be on the front side)

Re: 1971 steering/brakes/etc in a 1966 NEED HELP!!

OK, so if I am reading this correctly and looking at the pictures right, the center link is installed correct per the tapers and not clearing the cross member...

I just need to move the tie rods around to the inside of the center link..??..

Let me know,

Thanks,

WAGZ

Just pull the centerlink off and have a look at which ways the tapered holes are directed, and install accordingly.
