1972 C20 w/factory air, vent issues
I recently acquired my first 72 Chevy PU. It is super clean and low miles.
However when you turn on the Fan all the air blows (good velocity) thru the AC vents, Even when you turn control lever to heater or defrost. I have checked and I can see all the cables move but that doesn't change air from blowing out only AC vents. Any have any Ideas? Thanks |

The flapper in your diverter box is broken. It is a common problem. Welcome to the board!

Re: 1972 C20 w/factory air, vent issues
the black plastic box like thing on the passenger floor has a flapper inside to divert the air // it is a very common problem that it breaks and cant change directions
choice of either getting a new repo box or foolin around and fixin what you have (not so easy) altho now there might b a fix for that flapper cheaper than the box welcome to the board from daytona beach

If you don't have them download the manuals to get a good overview of the system.

Welcome. Lets see some pics of the Highlander. I have a SWB highlander and had a C20 Highlander so I am partial to them.

Thanks All. I pulled out the Duct-Air Selector box today and sure enough the flap was broken. Will get replacement and then be good to go.

That's a beauty!
I see it's still got the split rims on it.

Re: 1972 C20 w/factory air, vent issues
Thanks, Yes I got lucky to find this Gem. Garage stored for all of its life. I am trying to figure which rims I'd go to to replace the split rims. Thought about Rally rims but they seem hard to find in 16" 8 lug. May just go with white rim I can put original hub caps on.

Re: 1972 C20 w/factory air, vent issues
Wow, that's a nice truck! I'd buy some 16" steelies and just swap the caps over.
