Sandlwood Steering Wheel
I've decided to let this survivor go. It's got blems, but you know how hard these are to find in one piece. They aren't reproduced, oddly enough, even though they were used for three years out of the six. Not sure, but I believe these were used in '69s with Gold interior, too? Anyway, not many of these surviving in driver quality. No major cracks and the grain looks very good. I have shown the flaws in the pictures below. If anyone is interested I'm asking $165 shipped and will accept postal money orders

Re: Sandlwood Steering Wheel
The hairline cracks in the rim can be masked with a steering wheel cover. I just bought a saddle wheel with similar cracks and didn't let them bother me at all, since I use the covers. I can show you the totally crap Saddle wheel I replaced that has a cover. I have no idea how bad the rim is. Even if you restore this wheel, which is what I had intended,it's a good Sandalwood wheel under the paint. Cracking is limited to the one in the rim shown in the first two shots and the side where the spokes meet the rim. One side had barely detectable cracks and the other side is not bad at all.

Re: Sandlwood Steering Wheel
I never see these. I have separation issues I'm trying to get over. I tend to get things because I know they are hard to find and figure one day I might need it. Even though I'm taking strides by selling some off, last week I was offered (free) a bedside for a Ford Ranger "Edge" and took it since my son has a Ranger Flareside (or whatever they call them). Here I m trying to make space and now I have that??

Re: Sandlwood Steering Wheel
They didn't have deterioration issues like the steering wheels. Then there's always paint/dye

Re: Sandlwood Steering Wheel
On my '71 Custom Deluxe, the horn button is white. It cleaned up nicely and will look even better with a wheel like this! Thanks again, Tim. Payment in the mail on my way home from work today.

Re: Sandlwood Steering Wheel
I have a sandalwood / gold horn button but it's GMC. She's a beaut !
It's just a button, and it's pretty dirty. It could probably be restored and I'm pretty sure the clips are good. You might need to re-paint the GMC letters. What I'm sayin is .. it's not NOS. I don't mean to hijack, .. just offering it to the person who gets this wheel if you want it. It's yours, just pay shipping. PM if you want / need it. It's just laying in a box in my garage. I know how hard this color is to find, believe me. This is what GMC calls 'Gold' BTW. May not be the same color? May just be dirty? But from what I understand it's the same as Sandalwood.
