'68 body on a '99 frame

Has anyone ever done this before. I tried searching but came up short. I have access to a '99 2wd lb for cheap and was wondering if it could be done. Thnaks.

Subscribed. I have a very low mileage 92 Z71 I've been thinking about putting a 67/72 body on.

Well I bought the '99 on Friday. After measuring it, this will be straight forward to do. The '99 wheelbase is 4" longer. No problem just reposition the rear end. The frame width is wider but the cab will sit on it perfect to make one off body mounts. Than just go to town. My '68 frame is mint, but time you buy a dm, rear kit, disc brakes, etc. I am going to need a money tree. I bought the '99 for $750 and it runs and drives. MN winters took its toll on the body, but the body is getting scarped or sold. Plus it has disc brakes on all four and there is a ton of air suspension stuff for it. So before anyone bad mouths this idea, i'm not made of money-just time. Besides this a new adventure for me and it keeps me out of trouble.

search "Frankenstein" on this site , lots of info. A sales rep that calls on me for years has 2 69-72 blazers on 99 up chassis , .. maybe that's the Canadian guy?

there was a build in the 1960-1966 forum that was done , looks like it turned out real good...can't remember the guys name. he did his with a burb.

Nothing wrong with puttin it on a newer chassis. I say go for it. Should be an awesome truck when done. Don't give up keep wrenchin

it would be a good upgrade if it goes together right. late modle goodies on a cool looking body, what kind of fab skills do you have, i am sure you will need to change a few things around...

I've seen it done. Definetly the hard way to do it.

Subscribed, I have an "extra" 68 cab/front end/title and an "extra" short-bed step-side off an 88-98 that can go behind it but would want the fiberglass fender openings rounded out.

Then I have a 92 C1500 SWB fleetside with Ramjet style 350 (350HO 330HP crate with marine EFI), tri-y headers, stainless dual pipes, rebuilt 700R4, 3.73 posi that runs really good but has a really crappy body and got caught in the big Arizona hail storm a few years ago.

The driveshaft just so happens is hanging about 2 or 2 1/2 " out the end of the trans and I believe frame shortening on this frame would be easy the way the front frame is welded/slid into the rear frame, there is only a 1 1/2" wheelbase difference to begin with so I could just move the leafs.

Not sure I'm up to it, I want to see how you do it. I am NOT up to what fakerwade is doing, I'd like to see if I could leave the stock floor pan in the 68 and mount it to the 92 frame. Want to keep cab mostly intact with stock dash. I think there is a big difference between the Yukon fakerwade is using and the 92 C1500 I have.

I think the challenge will be to mount the cab to the frame at a height that will line up to the bed without getting it too high.

I would maybe consider cutting part of the firewall away to use the a/c unit on the 92 but need to do a lot of measuring and thinking.

Forgot a couple pics. Bought that SWB 68 because I needed a SWB frame (it's a C10 and it's also a 68) to put my 72 C10 and step-side short bed on. The 68 C20 cab/front end is just sitting there, it's not original to the frame but it does have a title.

The local Dodge/Ram Chrysler dealer has a 69 C-10 on a late model frame, been sitting on lot for over a year ? Just look weird ?

I was researching putting the bed from a 99 onto my 71 and IIRC people were saying you had to modify the frame., don't know if it's anything different for putting the whole body on.
