Did I get a good deal on my Jimmy?
So, I've had this on my face since I picked her up last Tuesday. '72 Jimmy 4x4 factory A/C, 350, 3spd, mostly stock/original. No rust. Runs awesome. I have no idea the value on these trucks, but I gave $7K. It didn't really matter, considering I saw her, and had to have her, whether it was $7K or double.
Couple questions: Did these come with optional three gas tanks. Mine has a chrome cover on each side of the body for each left and right nozzle, and the main gas nozzle in the rear driver side. Plus the selectors in the cab, one on the dash for the dash gauge, and one behind the drivers seat on the floor, I guess to switch tanks. And where do I find the box for the inside of the glove box. There's nothing there, u can see straight to the firewall. Plus it has a chevy '87-'91 steering wheel in a GMC Jimmy and the GMC chrome AM radio, which doesn't work, but I think the fuse is blown. So drool, if u must, cuz I know I do over most of the nicer trucks here!

Oh, ya, few minor things that need fixin: Steering has lotsa play, think it just needs new tie rods, and idler arm, etc. Radiator is leaking at the hose going to the thermo, no biggie a new 4 core can't handle. And the worst annoying problem is the left front caliper is clattering as Im driving down the road. Haven't taken a look at it yet, but I will very quick!

If you are happy with the price, that is what it is worth.I t looks good. The steering on my blazer was sloppy when I got it.A locale shop charged 250 to replace the ball joints. What a difference it made.I have never seen 1 with 3 tanks. All the vendors should have a replacement box.

Looks to me like you got a good deal. I paid $4K for mine 3 years ago and it isn't nearly that nice. Mine has serious wiring problems (I just bought a new harness from boytoytrading), it was missing the rear seat, and the hatch on the top is messed up.
The side tanks were not factory. They could be a dealer installed item. You can get the new glove box from just about any vendor. Try Wes at Classicheartbeat, mothertruckers or board member PICKMUP. Also, get the catalogs from LMC (http://www.lmctruck.com/), Chevyduty (http://www.chevyduty.com/), Brothers (http://www.brotherstrucks.com/), and the Truckshop (http://truckandcarshop.com/). All these will give you a good idea of what is available and LMC has some nice illustrations. You should check the ball joints too. If your going to have the rest of the front end apart, you might as well replace them too.

For the shape that is in, the general rarity of Blazers these days and the fact that your happy means your price is just fine. No rust is a substantial plus especially if your rocker boxes and windshield frame are good.
Yep, I'm drooling.

Very nice!
Are those hooks on the top for hanging/removing it? Seems like I've seen those on here before. Are they dealer add-on too? Davy

I may be mistaken, but I think A/C is a rare find on the Blazer/Jimmys. That is a sweet looking ride.
As for the steering wheel, just find a GMC horn button in the junk yard. They should only charge you 5 bucks or so. It just pops on and off. That wheel is 10 times better than the stock one if you plan on driving it. That's what I have in both my trucks. Also, in case you don't know, the wheels are not stock either, but they look dam good thoguh. You have a pic of the option sheet in the glove box? |

I didn't know that the wheels weren't stock, they look it, though. And I'll have to get a pic of the option sheet. It's still there!

I was wondering if Jimmys/Blazers even had a/c available till I saw this. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showfla...b=5&o=&fpart=1
I would guess that a/c is just about as rare in jimmy/blazer as it is in any other truck. |

Nice JIMMY! I'd say you got a very good deal, what are the two round things on the hard top just above the side glass?

That was a smokin deal! I don't keep up with Jimmy/B;azer prices, but an equivalant truck would have cost at least that.

Thanx for all the compliments, guys!! Makes me proud!! And the hooks on the top, Im pretty sure that they're for lifting the roof off with overhead hangers!! Sweet, eh? And as far as the A/C, it's got a Fridgidaire compressor, and blows cold enough to ride with the windows up on a 95°+ day in south Texas heat!!
