3800 pounds seem right?

Hey.... I thought I saw someone post that their truck weighed in at 4900 pounds... I just weighed mine at 3800 (certified scale).... how could there be that much difference?

Also, anyone know who might have resonable fiberglass body parts for our trucks? I saw some, but they were about 500-600 just for a hood.... not worth that much to me.... how much weight difference would it make?

With options and/or 4 wheel drive, weight can vary widely.

Short bed, long bed, 3/4 ton, 1/2 ton, V8, I6,
auto, manual, air, no air ...
3800 seems light, but for a short bed 1/2 ton
I6 and 3 speed 2wd maybe ??

MTDave,

Wow! No wonder these trucks do well at 14-16 miles to the gallon.

Mine weighs 3980 lbs. w/o me in it, and almost dry tank of gas. That is a '72 C10, LWB, 350/auto, with PS and PB. I think part of the problem is that my rear bumper must weigh at least 200lbs. It is one of those chrome step bumpers made out of 1/2" thick steel stock. Since i don't tow anything with the truck, i think i will ditch it one day, and maybe my weight will drop to around 3800lbs, lol.

Short/Fleet, small block with alluminum intake and headers, Th350, 1/2 tank or so of fuel, and a few normall items(spare tire, jack, 1 liter of mtn dew) came out to 3900 pounds.

Selling scrap are you longhornmail

That is where i got my weight figures, the scale at the scrap metal yard. No point in selling it anymore, the local yard is offering $.005 a pound for scrap steel and iron. Not even a penny a pound. It costs me more in gas and labor to get it there, lol.

Atleast they pay you for scrap. Here they charge 2 1/2 cents a pound to take it from you

My truck was 4790 on an old counter-balance type scale (read: accurate) when I had to get a weight for the DMV. I was shocked! But then again that was with a full size spare under the bed and a very heavy diamond plate step bumper in addition to the fact that the truck is a C20, with TH-400 trans, has dual saddle tanks, wood bed (which is heavier than steel?), power brakes, power steering, air conditioning, steel eight lug wagon wheels, bucket seats, etc. So I guess it all adds up!

My long wide K20 was 5300# on certified scales. 350/350, PS, PDB, fact air, heavy step bumper, split rim spare, and saddle tanks - but I can't recall how much fuel.

My Longhorn weighs 4040 on the scales, less driver, & about 1/2 tank of fuel. The old truck is pretty stripped tho! I am running alum heads, & intake, Less heater & AC, no inners or front bumper, Jaz plastic buckets & rollin on 1/2 ton suspension. Stock curb weight should have been around 5000 lbs(give or take a tad). The 1/2 ton long wb trucks should run 3800-3900 lbs depending on options......short wb could run in the range of 3500-3600, again depending on options. crazyL, rowin 6 & smiling

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
