Feeling a little confused.......looking for power steering answers.
I know that i have seen a TON of threads on this topic in the past....but now that im ready to do the swap, i can't locate them for info
i can only locate other engine size applications. And i thought i had the most common engine out there (350 ci) anyways, i am doing the power steering conversion on my 70 c10 350. I have read that i need to relocate my altenator because the ps pump gets in the way of the belt, but then i have read that some people have had success installing the pumps on the same side as the altenator.....what brackets would i need to use in order to install the pump on the same side as the alt?? oh, i have a short water pump pic of my engine (only one i have right now)

Re: Feeling a little confused.......looking for power steering answers.
I did this about 12 years ago on my '69. All I did was find a entire pump, bracket and crank pulley off a similar truck. The crank pulley stacks on top of the other pulleys. I got the power steering gear off a '73. I bought new hoses and belts. It's mounted below the alternator, and works fine. I don't recall having to relocate the alternator. I hope this helps.
I notice you're in Livermore. Isn't that where the fire station has the longest contiuous burning lightbulb? |

Yes it is! Its kind of cool that it has been on for over 100 years!
But thanks for the help....I think I want to buy as much as I can new. Do you know of somewhere that might sell a complete bracket kit for these trucks? I'm going to buy a pump/gear/hoses from my local parts store....... Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Feeling a little confused.......looking for power steering answers.
Get the correct P.S. brackets for 69-72 truck, puts the pump in the proper location under the Alt.. I suggest you look in the parts board here on this forum and get good used OEM vs. aftermarket/repop crap with holes that don't always line up. Support our U.S. economy instead of China at the same time.
