Hard Top Rebuild threads...

Ok so this last winter I picked up a hardtop for my blazer... I paid a $150 bucks for it, but it needs work. I have a few issues that need address.

The good: All glass and hatch work awesome... I mean really good. The bad: It has sat in the sun and baked. It has the crack at the upper window location, and all the seams are showing cracks. I am wanting to do it right. Are there any good repair threads? When I search all I get are for sale threads. I am tempted to take it into a shop and have the work done.

What are your thoughts? The cracking is like the ones posted in this thread.

Particularly the last photo has me the most concerned...

Not sure about threads off the top if my head but you will need to use smc resin I believe. The regular fiberglass resin will not work or last long.

You could start here. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=438402

I'm starting to search and save information on the same thing for when I get to my top.

Re: Hard Top Rebuild threads...

In the above link I didn't go into alot of detail on the top itself, but I believe that the SMC may be what the top would have been repaired with originally if damaged. I used a standard body filler (Rage) on cracks and seams with one small failure to date. To do all over again I would use a short strand fiberglass filler on all of the same areas and I believe it would hold up fine. Its almost three years now and I'm still pleased, good luck
